Yuki Yang, Vice President of Client Services
Were happy to announce that Quit For Life® clients can now work directly with us to order and implement the new Alere iScreen® OFD (Oral Fluid Device). The iScreen® OFD is a saliva-based nicotine test that makes worksite nicotine testing reliable and suitable for employers who want to verify tobacco user status for premium differential eligibility. iScreen® OFD, which tests for the nicotine by-product cotinine, was developed by our parent company, Alere, a global leader in toxicology and diagnostics.
We are offering the iScreen® OFD in response to the increasing number of employers who are choosing to implement a premium differential or tobacco surcharge and increasing trend of those who are including nicotine testing as part of their policy.
iScreen® OFD is registered with the FDA as a diagnostic screen. It is simple to administer via oral swab, safely self-contained, and the results, delivered within 10 minutes, are 97.6 percent accurate. The iScreen® OFD allows testing to be administered at the worksite by a trained professional staff member, with any size population, at a cost significantly lower than lab-based testing.
Laws protecting tobacco users vary by state, and we encourage our clients to work with their legal counsel when considering nicotine testing at the worksite.
Note: Self-reported quit rates are highly correlated with the results of biochemical verification tests such a cotinine tests. Alere Wellbeing does not recommend using cotinine testing to verify quit rates.
